Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best well-known for her character of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she earned the Emmy Award. Born as the only daughter to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a housewife, Delaney was raised with four brothers. When she was a teenager the first time she appeared as an actress was in the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Since then, Delaney has been in a variety of films television movies and dramas. Her professional career has been more successful than her private life. The talented actress has struggled with alcoholism throughout her life and had two failed marriages. In 2005, she lost custody of her only son.
